Fulbright Scholarship

The Fulbright South Africa Post-Graduate Studies Program will be accepting applications for the 2013-14 U.S. academic year until April 20, 2012. This program provides South Africans the opportunity to pursue Master’s or Ph.D. degrees at U.S. academic institutions. South African Ph.D. students can also use this program for a one-year nondegree program to conduct research and/or take courses at a U.S. academic institution. The program is open to South African residents and permanent residents who have a four year Bachelor degree or Honours degree for the Master’s program or a Master’s degree for the Doctoral program. The study grants are competitive and awarded for a period of two years. Tsogo Alumni 4^th Annual Careers & Study Expo

The first quarter in 2010 has been a productive one for the alumni society. We’re glad to report that our 4^th Annual Expo was a great success! This year we managed to host 7 academic institutions and 12 companies / organisations and exposed all Tsogo Grade 9 to 12 learners (approximately 400 learners) to a range of careers and study fields.

In true Tsogo tradition the event opened with some melodic singing and prayer at assembly followed by a welcome address from Mr. Assi (school principal) . He welcomed all guests and alumni – and especially Mr. Thema who is the Circuit Manager (Bojanala Region) in the Department of Education.

The welcome address was followed by a brief address by Mr. Thabo Ncalo (Alumni society secretary) who spoke about the role of alumni at Tsogo and the importance of instilling a culture of giving-back. He urged the learners to “be inquisitive” and ask many questions as possible – both on the day and generally in life.

Dear Friends of Tsogo,

We are very excited to give you a report-back on the careers expo we held at the school on Saturday September 26th 2009. We attach some pictures from the event and some notes on the presenters and companies.

We wish to thank all academic institutions, companies and their representatives, donors, alumni, teachers, vice principal, guidance teacher & rest of the faculty, Sr. Colmcille and the school, learners and all who assisted in the careers expo. You all sacrificed time out of your Saturday to spend the day imparting your knowledge to the learners of Tsogo Secondary School – we thank you!

There is a proverb that says that “the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago… the next best time is now!” We hope we have planted some trees of knowledge in the learners who attended the expo.

Thank you to all donors (esp. the Class of 1987 alumni group), supporters, online & social networking team, alumni society executive members and all involved in putting this event together.
