Alumni Profile of Izimangaliso Surprise Malatjie.
I started at Tsogo High School in 1986 (Grade 7, Std. 5 then) and left after grade 9 in 1988. Prior to that I attended Molapo Primary in Ga-Rankuwa Zone 2.
I hold a B.Tech in Cost Accounting from Technikon Pretoria and a MBA from Tshwane University of Technology.
Currently, I am a Director in Finance at the National School of Government. My job entails budgeting, forecasting, analysis & interpretation of financial statements, monthly & annual reporting. Training on financial statements.
I am married with 3 kids and I am currently studying towards a D. Tech in Business Administration at TUT.
I am also a motivational speaker and I mentor young girls. I have a personal project where I put a girl child through tertiary every year. So far I have put through 4 in total. Two of them have completed their studies and the other two are still studying.
On inspiration:
I love traveling and enjoy reading. I mostly enjoy giving talks to teenagers and I really feel fulfilled when I see one of the girls I have mentored graduating and achieving her goals. I’m really inspired by women who have achieved a lot in their careers and still manage to have a family and keep it together. My role models are Dr Lindiwe Sisulu (Current Minister of Public Administration) and Khanysile Kweyama Khanyile (HR Executive at Anglo American South Africa). I look up to these two women for their boldness and tenacity and for their tough negotiating skills, especially when dealing with labour unions.
To Alumni
As an individual you can do so much, but as a collective we can do more. Let us stand together and help youngsters to achieve their goals!!!
To current Students
The sky is the limit, you can become anything that you want to be. Education is the key to your future. It’s a gift that no one can take away from you!! Get an education…
I have so many great memories of Tsogo. I remember the bus trips every day to school and the games we used to play at the bus stop. Mostly I remember the food at ” Matjalekwa shops” when the bus didn’t come. My worst fear was crossing the rail tracks ” ko mokoting” when we had to walk ” stapa” home! I fondly remember my friends Mobe Mokoena, Winza Mabusela and Ramatsemela Mphahlele.
My Significant Achievements (So Far):
I have served on boards of various companies including Sanparks and The Anglican church Pretoria Diocese. In 2013 I competed in the Mrs South Africa beauty pageant and I made it to the top 10 at the finals that were held in JHB October 2013.
