Youth Month Update

New Website Look

New Website Look

June is youth month and to commemorate it we have begun to change our look. We are working on being “youthful” and fresh. The changes on the website will be gradual but are aimed at making the experiences of users as easy as possible while highlighting important information. We are also streamlining all of our social media, we are available on:

Update  Your Details

Yes its a constant drone, but it takes a couple of minutes and lets us structure our approach to providing you with information and connecting you to other alumni. Please update your details: http://bit.ly/tsogocontact We are still working on a system that will allow you to review your details in future.

What you can do as an Alumnus

There a number of things you can do to help the Alumni cause:

  • Volunteer your time at some of the events that will be coming up later in the year
  • Volunteer your skills to keep the Alumni Website Running
  • Offer feedback to our newsletters, articles etc.
  • Get other alumni connected to us by referring them to the website
  • Offer to mentor other young alumni
  • Provide information about opportunities to others (Work/Education)

The list really does go on.

Youth Month

As it is youth month, we want to highlight the Mail and Guardians 200 Young South African List: http://ysa2011.mg.co.za/

When did you start and finish at Tsogo?

Started in 1986 and matriculated in 1991

Where did you do your other schooling?

I started Mpho Primary in block C(Grade 1), Then went to Matsepa in Block B (Grade 2,3 and 4), then completed my last two years of primary with Ntsie in Block C (Grade 5 and 6) all in Mabopane. The reason for this moving around was my father being an educator was always looking for the best benefit for his kids in education and discipline.

What further education institutions did you attend?

I went University of Kwazulu Natal (UKZN) Westville campus (B.Sc. Civil Engineering) and UKZN Durban campus (Post graduate diploma in business management).

What do you currently do?

I have Multiple roles at the current moment and that is the way I like it, I am Executive Director at Hatch Africa, I am responsible for Business development, Transformation and Black Economic Empowerment, I am also responsible for Corporate Social Investments, I still remain fully involved in core business which is EPCM projects.

I enjoy what I do because it allows me to do what I cherish the most in life and that is to see people develop to their full potential. Africa can only start to grow when Africa develops its key resource “People”. The job also allows me to be reminded everyday of the greatest principle of success “Gratitude”.

ReConnecting 2001

What?

A database of contact information setup for alumni to be able to connect with each other from every year. This year we are starting with a number of alumni years, the first being 2001. Alumni can also provide information about other alumni so as to build the database.

Why?

A number of alumni have indicated that having information about classmates/alumni from their year would be a service they would want to have and use. We do not publicly make available our general database but will avail databases that are specific to years. They will be populated by alumni for other alumni.

Who? – 2001 Matriculants

Grade 11A -2000

Grade 11 B -2000

Grade 11 C -2000

Calling on all 2001 Matriculants. You can now fill in a contact form for your specific year and re-establish contact with your classmates.

  • To fill in the form go here http://bit.ly/tsogo2001, you can also fill in information about another alumnus if you have their email address
  • To view the spreadsheet  http://bit.ly/tsogo2001sheet but please fill in the form first.

This is a new service that is being tested out for alumni. Once alumni have signed up on the service/filled in their information the spreadsheet will be closed and only viewable by alumni from that year. To make it work Alumni from 2001 have to provide their information.

Other Ways to Connect

Cell C Matric Revision Programme 2010 (Tsogo Seconday School Featured, Video)

The Cell C Project in the North West consists of 3 schools namely:

  • President Mangope Technical and Commercial High School in Tlhabane
  • JM Ntsime Secondary in Mogwase
  • Tsogo Secondary in Mmakau

The visits on Saturday, 30 October 2010 started at JM Ntsime where Nobuntu Lange, accompanied by Hayley from Cell C got the opportunity of viewing lessons being conducted and saw how learners interact and participate in the lesson.

Mmabatho Moloedi, Maths Centre Provincial Manager for North West introduced the guest, and Nobuntu addressed the learners about the programme wishing them luck for the exam.

Learners were given T-shirts and caps by the Funder. Mr. Tsomakae, the Principal of JM Ntsime gave the vote of thanks.

From Mogwase the next school which was visited was Tsogo. A hand over was done.
