Omphile Modibela (Tsogo 1999)

Alumni Profile of Omphile Modibela, was also known as Spookie and Miss G.

I started at Tsogo High School in 1995 in standard 5 (Grade 7) and finished my matric in 1999. Earlier, I attended Isaac Mokwena Primary School in Mothotlung. Further I went on to attend Wits University (2000 -2004) where I obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering then Unisa (2006-2010) where I have just recently obtained my LLB degree.

Currently, I am working at an Intellectual Property Law firm, Spoor & Fisher, as a candidate patent attorney. I expect to be admitted as an attorney before the end of the year, where after I will be a qualified patent attorney. My job mainly involves obtaining patent protection for inventions (mainly inventions in the pharmaceutical, chemical, metallurgical, agricultural, paper industries) in South Africa and internationally, identifying whether certain products or processes are protected by way of patents, and if so, advising on the validity of such patents and whether clients can launch a product or processes without infringing such patents. On other occasions I have also been involved in Intellectual Property audits and due diligence.

Alumni Profile of Botlhale Mabatshidi Nong

I started at Tsogo High School, in Std. 6, in 1982 and matriculated in 1986.I had a number of nicknames while there. was called “die ou boemelaar” (the old bag/homeless person) from this Afrikaans fictional piece we read in Ms Letebele’s class – because I carried a HUGE green bag with ALL my books and dictionaries, a thesauraus (English, Afrikaans and Setswana) and Bible in it. I was also called BoMaNo (the first two letters of my names). Even though I now have a degree in Sports Science, I did not participate in a lot of sporting activities except for karate, which was offered for a few months in the middle years of my time at Tsogo and drum majorettes, which ALL female students were forced to join – I hated this so much! It seemed to me that all the people participating in the major and most popular sports offered (netball, soccer, volleyball etc) were some of the most popular people at school – and I was not one of those. I did a bit of debating, theater and music (but these faded out pretty much as soon as they started). Our librarian started a few interesting “book and reading circle” type of activities that I also participated

Much earlier I did my Sub A in Meadowlands, Soweto, Johannesburg and the rest of primary and middle school at: Lesego Primary School and then Tswelelang Middle School in Zone 4, Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria

Amos Diale (Tsogo 1989)

My name is Amos Rammona Diale  who was commonly known as Chickzer in those years. The nickname was given  by my primary maths teacher Mr Mmamogale.

When did you start and finish at Tsogo?

Well I started my standard six in 1984 and completed my Matric in 1989.I had to repeat std. 6 because of the bad company I was in. I was given an option to proceed with my standard 7 in another school (DC) or repeat std. 6 at Tsogo. I wanted to go but my father insisted that I repeat.

Where did you do your primary schooling?

I did my primary at De-Wildt Roman Catholic School (Holy Redeemer), which is today called Morekolodi in Mmakau and I had 3 principals there, Sister Reader, Sister Xavier and Sister Kieren.
